|
Linda LaZar has worked in media communications for the past 16 years. She started as a writer and editor for newspapers and magazines and continues to work part-time from her home in Eugene, Oregon as the Special Assignment Editor for two Los Angeles magazines - Business Life Magazine and Senior Living Magazine.
Marketing for small businesses has always been one of Linda's passions, and when the Internet made its way into the homes, offices, and businesses of most consumers, Linda was ecstatic to become involved in Web site design and development. She enthusiastically encourages and endorses the use of Web sites as the premier tool for small business marketing today.
OVER THE PAST TWO DECADES
Linda worked in Los Angeles as the Director of Marketing for the 1,400-seat Alex Regional Theatre in Glendale, California; she was the Director of Communications & Special Events for the Glendale Chamber Of Commerce; a weekly business columnist for the Glendale News-Press (a Los Angeles Times subsidiary), and a reporter/business columnist for the Glendale Gazette. She appeared often as a guest and host for radio and cable TV, and hosted her own call-in radio show on KIEV radio in Los Angeles for three years.
Believing that volunteers play a crucial role in the success of a healthy community, Linda served on the Board of Directors for several organizations, including; the Glendale YMCA, Glendale Youth Alliance, Glendale Youth Orchestra, and was a Liaison Council member for Glendale Memorial Hospital & Health Center, as well serving as a member of many service club affiliations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, Soroptimist International, Kiwanis, and Business and Professional Women.
BORN AND RAISED
Linda was born and raised in Oceanside, California as the daughter of a Tennessee-born U.S. Marine and a beautiful "Southern Belle" from North Carolina. She then spent 25 years living and working in Los Angeles. In 2003, she and her two children moved to Eugene, Oregon where both kids graduated from Sheldon High School. Linda says she appreciates every day spent in the nature-friendly cities of Eugene and Springfield with their two sparkling rivers and warm, supportive friends and neighbors. She says "I've found Shangri-La and it's quietly secluded in Oregon!"
SMALL BUSINESS MARKETING PASSION
With first-hand experience employing various marketing mediums, Linda understands the high costs and limited shelf life associated with printing and direct mail marketing—very often an expense that small business owners cannot afford.
Print advertising is a risky gamble for limited marketing budgets, and it can result in creating a nuisance for potential customers when it arrives at their homes and offices in stacks of unsolicited "junk mail." Linda endorses Web site marketing as a friendly, non-invasive approach to informing the local community about the businesses available to them. Web sites are easy to access and especially beneficial in their "green marketing" and "green advertising" qualities!
MARKETING STRATEGIES
Linda LaZar fully endorses and encourages the highly effective low-cost / optimum performance combination of Web sites working together with local television commercials. Her belief is that a basic 30-second local TV commercial that directs customers to a fully developed Web site is the best and most successful resource for marketing and advertising.
Web sites are easy and inexpensive to update and maintain, and they are available to clients 24/7 - even on holidays! They are more colorful, informative, and effective than print marketing and they are a fraction of the cost and frustration, with absolutely no waste.
TV EXPERIENCE
While working in Los Angeles, Linda wrote, directed, and produced promotional videos and commercials for small businesses and produced commercials and media materials for several political candidates. She also produced, wrote, and worked as an on-camera host for a local TV cable news magazine program, doing on-location interviews with small business owners. She understands, first-hand, the benefits that a well-organized TV / Internet campaign can have on the success of any business.
BUILDING THE WEB COMMUNITY
Linda is excited to work with local businesses to guide them through the tangled paths of small business / limited budget marketing. She admires individuals who have the courage to venture outside the safe boundaries of corporate America into the exciting, yet uncertain, world of entrepreneurship.
It is her goal to offer small business owners, entrepreneurs, and artists the opportunity to compete with "Goliath" by showing their talents and products on the Internet in full color, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Linda offers Web site packages starting as low as $650, including domain registration and Internet hosting for one year! There is no better value for business owners than Web site marketing.
FAMILY
Linda is the proud and happy mother of two children - John (University of Oregon graduate) and Candace (University of Oregon freshman) - both are graduates of Sheldon High School in Eugene, Oregon. The entire family adores their 14 year-old Golden Lab Holly and two13-year-old cats Puff and Precious.
